You basically just need to spread this dry mix over a preexisting concrete surface and pavers can be laid down in a matter of hours. DriBond® does create dust when it’s being laid down. If DriBond® dust remains on the pavers or tiles after installation, simply run a broom over the dust while you’re watering down the product to activate it.
A DriBond® paver overlay is a rigid system. If you are using DriBond® to overlay a preexisting concrete pavement, it is essentially similar to having a whole new pavement installed.

The DriBond dry mudset for concrete overlay must be spread on a completely dry surface as this product is activated by contact with water. Any DriBond applied to a preexisting concrete surface must be covered by either pavers, natural stone, or veneer. If this is impossible because of incoming or upcoming rain, you must remove any exposed product from the surface and repackage it in order to resume installation once the surface is completely dried up.
While installing DriBond, humidity is generally not a problem. Any product screeded onto the surface and covered with pavers or stones must be activated with water prior to the installer team leaving the job site for the day. Any DriBond dry mudset that is not covered with concrete pavers or stones must be removed prior to departing the job site..
Mild winds will usually not disrupt the installation of the DriBond dry mudset for concrete overlay. However, if excessive winds are blowing off DriBond as it is being screed onto the existing base concrete surface, the job should be halted, remaining DriBond product should be re-bagged. Installation can resume once winds subside.
Once DriBond has been properly spread out, immediately begin laying pavers. After the pavers are down then activated with water. With DriBond, a concrete overlay job such as a residential driveway can normally be done in a day.

Yes, to ensure optimal results, the preexisting concrete surface should be thoroughly washed prior to applying the DriBond dry mudset for concrete overlay. Use professional stain removers to get rid of any greasy residue, organic staining, or rusty smudge. Then, the base structure should be rinsed with a high-duty surface preparator to get rid of any leftover debris. Finally, the preexisting concrete should be pressure-washed.
BorderBond® is a ready-to-use liquid fortifier that was developed for usage with DriBond’s innovative polymer modified dry mudset formula. Once mixed with DriBond, BorderBond allows for the optimal binding of border pavers to the concrete base.
All depending on the kind of concrete overlay project you are taking on, you may encounter height difference along the preexisting concrete surface. Depending on the amount of slope and the elevation gap, the creation of a transition area might be necessary. In that case, the existing concrete should be cut and/or chiseled to adapt to the surface slope and avoid trip hazards, all the while maintaining the installation’s stability and durability.
DriBond can be used over stress cracks and expansion joints. However, any crack or separation that’s 3/4” wide or larger must be filled with cement and covered with a crack isolation membrane prior to spreading out DriBond.
Large cracks and damaged sections must be cut to full depth and repaired with concrete.
Once this is done, proper surface preparation should be done to make sure you’re working on a clean and even surface.
